It was a great break from our usual routine and a fun way to celebrate our friend’s special day. I can’t wait for my own birthday so we can do it all over again!

Last week, my 6th grade class celebrated a birthday and it was one of the most memorable days of the school year so far. Our classmate, Sarah, turned 12 and we all wanted to make sure she felt special on her big day. We planned a surprise party during lunchtime and decorated the classroom with balloons and streamers. Our teacher even let us bring in some snacks and treats to share.
When Sarah walked into the classroom, we all shouted “Surprise!” and sang “Happy Birthday” to her. She was so surprised and happy that she started to cry. We gave her a big group hug and then she blew out the candles on her cake. We all enjoyed a slice and talked about our favorite memories from the school year so far.
After we finished eating, our teacher surprised us by letting us play games and hang out together for the rest of lunchtime. We played charades, Pictionary, and even had a dance party. It was so much fun to just relax and have fun with our classmates.
